Strangetown for The Sims 3

Welcome to Strangetown!

Truth-seekers move to Strangetown hoping to discover the secrets the town holds. Do aliens live among us? Do missing Sims mysteriously appear here? In this town nothing is what it seems.

About

Strangetown is one of the oficial neighborhoods of The Sims 2. It appeared in the base game (PC) but it was also featured in The Sims 2 spin-offs: PSP, GBA, DS and console. My purpose in creating this world was to include all versions of Strangetown from all games it appeared in in a single world. I tried to be as accurate as possible to the different versions, as well as trying to keep the correct layout of the different places. Of course, it's impossible to have an 100% perfect replica, but I hope you can identify them in the game.

World

Considering that The Sims 2 was released in 2004, this world is supposedly set in the mid 2000s. The world consists of 101 lots in total: 49 residential lots (18 inhabited and 31 unhabited), 44 community lots and 8 empty lots. The world map is a variation of Lucky Palms height map (although you don't need Lucky Palms installed to work).

 Size: Large.

Population: Populated. Features several townies from the different games (PC, PSP, DS, console, GBA). The original Strangetown families have complete family trees.

 CC: Included.

Required expansions: All (World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise and Into the Future).

 Required stuff packs: None.

Download

The .rar file has a folder called “Strangetown package objects”, which should be placed in the game's Packages folder (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages), and a .sims3pack file, which is the world itself, and should be placed in the game's Downloads folder (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Downloads) and be downloaded via launcher. You need to put both the .sims3pack file and the packages folder into your game.

The links to the authors of the package files are listed below. These packages are already included in the download link above under the folder "Strangetown package objects". I'm just crediting them:

It's always good to check if you already have the package installed.

Additional Information

 - The world has custom sky color and light parameters (some of the photos were taken with a different color/light used in the final product).

 - As much as I have done several routing tests and fixed bad routes, I advise downloading some Nraas mods to improve performance, such as Overwatch and Error Trap (not mandatory, but recommended).

 - Some regions and lots are totally made up by me and doesn't correspond to any version of Strangetown, especially the main downtown, as they contain the standard Sims 3 rabbit holes and community lots. Two households were also made up by me (Mole and Wretched) and I decided to do this so that players could understand how these lots would work as residences.

 - Some world objects are recolored, so I recommend closing the game and opening it again if you want to play in another world before or after playing in Strangetown. This is because the colors can show up wrong either in this world or in the other world you’ll play.

 - On the second day of gameplay you will receive a message regarding Pascal's son/daughter fate (even if you are not playing with this family). This is because he is pregnant at the start of the game. You can decide whether you want him to keep his kid or not. Ignore the message or give his child any name if you don't care about this.

 - Some lots containing the Hidden Room Marker leave OMSP visible inside them. Unfortunately I couldn't fix this issue. The way to fix it is to go to Edit Town mode, enter the lot, and go back to simulation mode.

 - Some people asked me if it's possible to play it without expansions, and I don't recommend it. I tried to install Strangetown only with base game, and technically the world is playable, but the objects and rabbit holes will be replaced or deleted, Sims will be wearing random clothes and hair and world decorations (including bridges) will be deleted too.

 - English is not my native language.
